Akkalkot Swami Samarth is a living presence in a great many Maharashtrian homes rather than a distant deity, and the texts are correspondingly plain. The तारक मंत्र is the one on the wall of half the households in Maharashtra and is repeated rather than read. The aarti is sung at the Thursday diva, in the Datta parampara that Swami belongs to.
